About the staff...

The legal staff consists of 24 people : Two Lawyers, one Office Manager, one IT Manager, one Bookkeeper, one Programmer, six Paralegals, eight Investigators/Asset Locators, and four Administrative Assistants. The firm presently employs one Certified Public Accountant on a part time basis, a gentleman who provides to the firm a daily courier service to all local courts in a six county area, and two network administrators.

Charles Darrah

Born 1946, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,; Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration, University of Alabama; Masters Degree Business Administration, University of Denver; Juris Doctor, University of Denver; Admitted to practice law in Colorado 1971. He is a frequent lecturer on the subject of collection law and a past instructor at the Institute for Advanced Legal Studies, University of Denver College of Law. He has served on a Special Sub-Committee of the Colorado Supreme Court Civil Rules committee to review and redraft the Colorado Rules of County Court Civil Procedure. He is one of only four Colorado Attorneys certified as a creditors rights specialist by the American Board of Certification.

David N. Franklin

Born 1953, Greenville, South Carolina; Bachelor of Arts, Cum Laude, University of California; Juris Doctor, University of Denver College of Law; Admitted to practice law in Colorado 1981; employed by Charles B. Darrah & Associates 1982 to date.

Our computerized information databases enable us to locate thousands of people who move, change jobs, and conceal assets.

Charles B. Darrah opened a one room office at 601 Broadway, Denver, Colorado in 1972 as a sole practitioner. Since 1974 the law practice has been limited to debt collection. The number of clients, and dollar volume of accounts has steadily increased. In March, 1982, he had three secretaries and found it necessary to hire a lawyer (David N. Franklin) to assist him. Mr. Franklin is still with the firm. We now employ 24 full time employees. The firm provides legal services related to debt collection for the entire State of Colorado in all Colorado Courts. The firm's cases are all retail and commercial collection matters. The firm has years of experience in collection law and is current on all aspects of the UCC, UCCC, problems regarding disposition of collateral, truth in leanding, FDCPA, replevin, attachment, garnishment, etc.

The office occupies approximately 3000 square feet of space at 99 Inca Street in downtown Denver. The office is located a few blocks from the Denver Courthouse, the Colorado Supreme Court, the Colorado Supreme Court Library and the Colorado Court of Appeals.

In addition to ordinary office equipment and an excellent library regarding collection law, the firm has a network and database system of which it is proud. We have an onsite software developer that consistently updates our software to keep up with the newest and latest technologies. Our hardware is updated regularly giving us redundancy and the ability to handle tens of thousands of claims with little or no impact to our hardware. Therefore, the firm is able to handle a large volume and yet give careful personal attention to details of all the cases. Charles B. Darrah & Associates uses Commercial Legal Software© developed specifically for use by collection law firms, Our computer capabilities enable us to accept the electronic transfer of information. Our EDI capabilities enable our clients to utilize the most cost-efficient methods of placing accounts and receiving information. Through our network system, we are able to eliminate the labor-intensive task of completing referral forms or entering payments that other firms and agencies require. This ensures the fastest, most accurate action possible on client accounts. Our capabilities include electronic funds transfers.
